Wow.
Dion Waiters' rise up the draft boards is nothing short of remarkable. He didn't start a single game for Syracuse this season, coming off the bench to score a little over 12 points per game. Still, his overall game drew more than a few comparisons to that of Dwyane Wade, and throughout the pre-draft process there were whispers that Waiters had a promise from a team picking at the top of the lottery.
Apparently, there was fire to go with all that smoke.
If Waiters is near as good as advertised, he'll be a great fit in the Cleveland backcourt alongside reigning rookie of the year Kyrie Irving, especially now that incumbent off-guard Anthony Parker has announced his retirement.
Waiters is the first sophomore to be selected in this draft, and the first that didn't play in the SEC.
