In the space of ten picks, the New Orleans Hornets added the most popular player in this year's draft class, and the most controversial.
Austin Rivers' talent is unquestioned; he's an excellent scorer with good size for an NBA two and has the court vision one might expect from the son of a very talented point guard and coach. But he's been dogged by accusations of arrogance or an entitled attitude, and questions whether he'll ever be as good as he seems to think he is.
It may be unfair to judge Rivers based on his freshman season at Duke, as the Blue Devils played much of the year without a true point guard. On the other hand, he may be asked to play the point in New Orleans, as the Hornets may have Eric Gordon back at the two spot. And whether or not Rivers will ever be a "willing" passer is still to be determined.
