Pistons general manager Joe Dumars was expected to draft a big man to take some of the pressure off of Greg Monroe. As it turns out, the player generally regarded as the top big man in this draft just fell into Dumars' lap.
But the Pistons may have to wait a few years before they really see Drummond's potential. After all, the 2012-13 season was supposed to be his freshman year of college. Drummond finished high school a year earlier than anticipated and was a late commit to Connecticut last August. He's got legit big man size and has shown flashes of real potential, but he's very raw. Will he become the next Andrew Bynum? Or the next Brendan Haywood? It will be some time before we can really judge.
