New Orleans center Chris Kaman is on everyone's list of "players who may be traded at the deadline." And rightfully so - just last month, the Hornets took Kaman out of the rotation because a deal seemed to be imminent. But today, it appears that Kaman may be off the market.
Kurt Helin of ProBasketballTalk is reporting that Mike Dunleavy - who used to be Kaman's head coach with the Los Angeles Clippers - is part of an ownership group that may be the leading contender to buy the Hornets, and Dunleavy doesn't want Kaman to be traded.
The NBA has been running the Hornets since December of 2010, when David Stern and company bought out owner George Shinn's stake in the team. This isn't the first time that somewhat-awkward arrangement has had an impact on personnel decisions; before the season, Stern famously "vetoed" a trade that would have sent Hornets star Chris Paul to the Lakers amid a wide range of complaints from other NBA owners.
Paul was later dealt to the Clippers, with Kaman one of the players heading to New Orleans in return.
If Kaman is dealt, the Indiana Pacers are considered one of his most likely destinations.
