Chris Bosh Wont Play in London

Chris Bosh will not be part of Team USA at the London Games; the all-star forward and newly-crowned NBA champion will take the summer off to rest and rehab the injury he sustained during the playoffs.

He's the second member of the champs to back out of an Olympic commitment this week. Dwyane Wade has announced that he'll have knee surgery this summer and will be unavailable for the Games.

This is a significant blow to USA Basketball, as Team USA was already very thin in the frontcourt due to Dwight Howard's injury. At this point, New York's Tyson Chandler and newly-drafted Anthony Davis - who has yet to play a single minute of NBA ball - are the only real centers on the preliminary Olympic roster.

Team USA was able to get by without much size at the 2010 FIBA World Championships, playing the likes of Kevin Love and even Lamar Odom in the middle for extended stretches. But with Team Spain - with Marc and Pau Gasol and Serge Ibaka - looming as a potential medal-round opponent, Mike Krzyzewski was expected to bring a bigger roster to London.
